The Charhdikala, established in 1969, is an independent, daily newspaper, serving the Malwa region of the Punjab and also north India comprising the states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.
Started as a weekly in 1969, from the princely city of Patiala, the newspaper was converted to daily publication in 1977. The daily Charhdikala is a pioneer paper and has got a vast circulation in Northern region of the country. It has neck - deep penetration in the states of Punjab Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir as well as in Delhi. The daily Charhdikala has the distinction of being the first Punjabi newspaper, which introduced computerised composing and processing in the country. The Charhdikala is also the only Punjabi paper in the country which publishes its widely read popular Sunday Magazine on glazed paper in Colour.
The monthly Charhdikala magazine has created history. For the last five years, it is the highest read Punjabi magazine in the country. This has been reported by National Readership Survey (NRS)
Although the primary emphasis of The Charhdikala is to meet the local editorial and advertising needs of the society, it is also served by PTI, UNI Fax Services, INFA, Indians features syndicate, Yugwarta and supported by eminent writers and correspondents from all over the country and abroad, thus providing a complete daily newspaper meeting the total news and intellectual requirements of the area subscribers. The external circulation penetration of the Charhdikala in its market area attests to achievement of this goal.
The Charhdikala advertisers are served by adequate trained staff of display and classified sales persons. The staff is prepared to consult advertisers to design effective advertising campaigns and to review realistic advertising budgets. It is supplied with full art service to assist in the design of sales promoting attractive advertisements.
The paper has a modern 4 unit offset press, fully computerized type setting with laser output, and full colour printing capabilities.
